I'm writing to express my disappointment with my experience at Tokyo Headspa, St Leonards. I booked a long-awaited appointment on 27 July using a $250 Mother’s Day gift voucher. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend due to a severe case of Influenza B – which the salon is aware of – and I could not contact them at the time. Text messages were exchanged that evening. Since then, I have made every effort to contact Tokyo Headspa to find a fair resolution, but over six weeks later the issue remains unresolved. Despite no service being provided, I have been charged the full amount for the service booked. I have asked repeatedly to use the remaining value of my voucher at a later date and even offered to pay the $100 cancellation fee (to cover the staff's time) but my requests have gone unanswered. Donna, the Customer Service Manager, tried to help initially, but now there has been no communication at all, after many phone calls and emails, which is very disappointing and not a good first experience. I believe it is only fair to allow clients to rebook or receive a partial refund when cancellations are unavoidable due to severe and unavoidable illness. This has been an extremely frustrating process, and I would caution others to be aware of this policy before booking.

I am now writing a review to let others know of my complete disappointment with my appointment t at Tokyo Head Spa in St. Leonards. I booked this appointment and took the afternoon off work specifically to enjoy the Sun Goddess treatment, which I had extended using a gift voucher valued at $165 and paid the extra with my credit card to secure the booking. The confirmation I received clearly showed that I was meant to receive this treatment. Unfortunately, what actually occurred fell far short of expectations. Upon arrival, I was greeted by Emmi, who was delightful, and I want to stress that Emmi should not be held responsible for any of the issues I experienced. Emmi only had me booked for what appeared to be an hour-long treatment. I attempted to explain that I believed my appointment was for 2 hours and 30 minutes, but due to language barriers, we relied on Google Translate to try to communicate. By the time this was clarified, I was informed that there was another appointment immediately following mine, so no adjustments could be made and to contact customer service. My treatment therefore did not begin until 4:20 PM, and my hair was being dried by 5:05 PM. I am extremely disappointed with the booking system and service, which I have found repeatedly frustrating despite spending significant time on the phone confirming appointments and attempting to rectify this with Donna Moore at Customer Service. I am still awaiting resolution. What is particularly upsetting is that I had arranged my afternoon specifically to enjoy this rare 2.5-hour treatment, and I left feeling incredibly disappointed and frustrated. My friend who gifted me the voucher is also understandably disappointed. I expected a prompt and appropriate response addressing this issue before posting a review of my experience but received an email saying they would be back to me within 48 hours and that was over a week ago. Their booking system and customer service is appauling and I am still waiting for a refund on the additional monies I personally paid. Very rare that I write this sort of review.

Had a pampering and relaxing experience here with wonderful results for my hair. Went for a Tokyo Headspa experience which included scalp assessment, shampoo, treatment and head/neck massages. Miraculously walked out with soft and shiny hair which had been damaged and left brittle from bleaching. Thank you Yuri for taking care of me, and always checking that the temperature of the room, towels and firmness of the massage was comfortable :). Salon Lane is a fascinating concept, with multiple artists and small businesses working under the same roof. There is a common reception and communal lounge area. Tokyo Headspa uses one of the rooms inside, and I was made aware that I may hear the ongoing of the room next door. I did hear taps running, the hairdryer and maybe some of the conversation next door but this didn’t bother me as it’s akin to most hair salon experiences. The room itself is completely private, and I was so relaxed in the chair and with the massages that I was drifting in any case! No issues at all and would recommend.

Certainly not the experience advertised. To start, trying to get in to the premises proved very difficult. I had to wait for someone to come out and I was able to come in out of the rain. The masseuse came to the front of house at my appointment time. I was taken to a room and seated where upon the masseuse fiddled around for about 10 minutes. then the hair was washed and conditioned and the massage started. It was ok, not much better than at the regular hairdresser. after a while that was it, and she dried my hair, taking 15 minutes. So much for a 70 minute treatment . i was lucky to get about 40 minutes of massage. Would not recommend at all. a rip off.
